About the release
The 9.0.0 release is the twelfth update for Datto RMM in 2020. Along with numerous fixes and improvements, some of the highlights are listed below.
Network Topology
Network Topology maps allow MSPs to better manage their clients' networks by continuously discovering and identifying every device, generating a visual layout of the network showing how devices are connected to one another, and helping technicians identify where potential issues may exist. Refer to Network Discovery.
Available in the New UI, Network Topology maps include the following benefits:
-
Insightful discovery. Instantly view all discovered and managed devices on the network, not just those under management by Datto RMM.
-
Faster troubleshooting. View essential network information at a glance, with open alerts represented on devices and the impact they have on one another. Technicians can quickly navigate to any device, gather critical information, and set up a remote connection with a single click.
-
Mitigation of potential issues. Technicians don’t just see devices by themselves; Datto RMM’s Network Topology maps illustrate the relationships between all devices on the network, allowing technicians to gauge the impact of a change before it’s made.
Ransomware Detection
Ransomware Detection is a new feature offering powerful new capabilities to monitor and respond to ransomware on client devices. Refer to Ransomware monitor.
Available in the New UI, this new monitor includes the following benefits:
-
Know about ransomware infections instantly. Instead of waiting for a user to report the issue, Datto RMM will notify technicians at the moment files get encrypted by the ransomware. This will provide more time to respond and possibly prevent the spread.
-
Easily monitor using policy-driven configuration. Datto RMM’s powerful policy-driven approach allows MSPs to easily monitor targeted devices at scale for the presence of ransomware. Integrations with key MSP tools, such as Autotask PSA or ConnectWise Manage, along with email notification options, ensure that the right resources can be notified immediately if ransomware is detected.
-
Prevent spreading of ransomware with automatic network isolation. Once ransomware is detected, Ransomware Detection will attempt to terminate the ransomware process; it can also automatically isolate the affected device from the network, preventing further spread of the ransomware to other devices.
-
Remediate issues remotely. Devices automatically isolated from the network can still contact Datto RMM, allowing technicians to take effective action to resolve the issue.
-
Recover with Datto Continuity products. When Datto RMM is integrated with Datto BCDR, technicians can quickly recover from the ransomware outbreak by restoring a device to a previous state.
NOTE The Ransomware monitor requires an additional license before it can be used. Refer to Enable Ransomware Detection and add licenses.
Unscheduled Maintenance mode
You can now place one or more devices in a new Unscheduled Maintenance mode. Along with recording a reason for the maintenance, users can specify a length of time the device will be in maintenance, preventing alerts from being generated during this time period. An icon will display in the header area of the Device Summary page to communicate that it is in maintenance mode. The window can also be ended prematurely. Refer to Create a Maintenance Mode Window and Action buttons.
Web Remote multi-session support
Web Remote is now multi-session aware, allowing technicians to support users on Windows Virtual Desktops and servers running Remote Desktop Services. Refer to Multi-session support.
Create, edit, delete filters in the New UI
You can now create, edit, and delete filters in the New UI, allowing you to leverage the speed and responsiveness of the New UI while creating powerful filters to assist with targeting jobs, policies, and reports, along with navigating to device lists. Refer to Device Filters - New UI.
Internet Explorer 11 End of Support
IMPORTANT With the 9.0.0 release, Datto RMM will no longer support Internet Explorer 11.
For more details on browser support, refer to Supported browsers.
Other areas
-
VMware ESXi 7.0.0 support. ESXi 7.0.0 is now officially supported within Datto RMM. Refer to Supported versions.
